What are FNB Rewards?
Now you can get up to 15% back on your qualifying fuel or airtime purchases and up to 2.5% back on all other qualifying Cheque Card purchases. This means that when you purchase fuel on your FNB Cheque Card at any fuel retailer or purchase prepaid airtime using any one of FNB's electronic banking channels, you will get cash or eBucks back straight into your account - for free!
Now you have the choice to spend on either fuel or airtime and we will maximise your rewards by rewarding you on the higher of your qualifying fuel or airtime spend.
How does the programme work?
- You need to meet the qualifying criteria in order to earn points and rewards each month
- You earn points each month based on the earning criteria, and these points accumulate over a rolling twelve months of history (in other words the most recent 12 months) to determine your total points. So, even if you do not earn points in the latest month, you will still maintain the points you have earned in the previous eleven months.
- Your total points for the twelve month period determine which reward level you fall into
- On each reward level, you will receive a different percentage of your qualifying fuel OR airtime purchases back in cash or eBucks when you pay for fuel using your FNB Cheque Card. (Debit and Petrol Cards linked to your Cheque Account do not qualify to earn rewards) or purchase airtime through FNB's electronic channels
- You will get rewarded on the highest qualifying fuel OR airtime spend. Please note that you will not be rewarded on both fuel and airtime spend.
- Customers who are registered for eBucks will automatically get their rewards paid in eBucks into their eBucks Account and will qualify for the highest reward rate. Customers who are not registered for eBucks will receive their rewards in the form of a cash payment into their FNB Personal Cheque Accounts, but will not qualify for the highest reward rate
How does the programme work?
If you hold an active FNB Personal or Islamic Cheque Account, or an FNB Private Clients Single or Private Facility, you qualify for this offer.
You simply need to ensure that you have given FNB permission to market to you (i.e. your marketing consent is set to 'YES') and you need to update your personal details with a valid cellphone number AND email address at least once a year.
You also need to ensure that you are registered for FNB's free messaging service InContact. You need to transact through at least one of FNB's electronic channels - Online, Cellphone, or Telephone Banking, or the FNB Banking App once a month (all of which have zero subscriptions fees!).
You also need to ensure that the value of your monthly cheque card swipes at point of sale exceeds your monthly ATM withdrawals.
Lastly, you will need to ensure that you deposit a total of at least the following minimum amounts into your FNB Account each month:
- Platinum Cheque Accounts - R16 500
- Gold and Islamic Cheque Accounts - R5 500
- Smart and Encore Cheque Accounts - R2 000
- FNB Private Clients Single or Private Facilities - R40 000
*Your account must also be in good standing which means that your account should not be overdrawn, in arrears, nor that you are in debt counselling or any legal process with FNB.
*Please note that Joint Accounts and Money Market Transactor do not qualify to earn fuel or airtime rewards.
How do I earn points?
There are many easy ways to earn points. Each month, you can earn points by fulfilling some or all of the criteria below, according to the table. You do not need to fulfil all the criteria- but you will earn more points the more criteria you fulfil! Points accumulate over a rolling twelve months of history to determine your total points, in other words your total points are the sum of all the points for the last 12 months. These points in turn determine how much you get back.

What are the reward rates?
Your total points for a twelve month period determine the reward that you will get back on your qualifying fuel or airtime purchases. The required points to qualify for each earn tier are shown in the table below:

What is considered 'Qualifying Fuel or Airtime Spend'?
Qualifying Fuel Spend
You can earn fuel rewards of up to a maximum of 20% of total Cheque Card point of sale spend. So, if you have spent a total of R6 000 on your Cheque Card in the month, where R2 000 of that total spend was on fuel, you will only receive rewards on R1 200 of that fuel spend (20% of R6 000 = R1 200).
You can maximize your qualifying fuel spend by using your Cheque Card to pay for as much of your monthly expenses as possible.
Qualifying Airtime Spend
You can earn Airtime rewards for up to R1 000 of your qualifying airtime spend. You need to have a purchased your airtime through any FNB electronic channel such as an FNB ATM, Cellphone banking, Online Banking or the FNB Banking App.

- Select 'Account Settings' found on the left of the page, and select your Account
- Click on the 'Upgrade Now' link found next to your account type if you qualify for an upgrade and follow the prompts to upgrade.
