- Never reply to an email asking you for your personal banking information.
- Look for the icon displaying a locked padlock on a payments page indicating a secure site.
- Check the overall functionality of the site before entering your details.
- Make sure 'https' is part of the web address - this indicates that the site is secure.
- Update and run your anti-virus and spyware programme regularly.

- Never let your card out of your sight.
- Make sure you receive your card back after paying.
- Always cover your hand when entering your PIN at a point of sale and be aware of other people behind you (to avoid 'shoulder surfing').
- If the cashier informs you that your transaction was declined, ask for the slip and retain this slip for proof of transaction details.

- Never give your PIN to anyone, don't write it down - memorise your PIN.
- Never accept assistance from anyone at an ATM and don't draw money if your feel unsafe.
- Always place your hand over the keypad when keying in your PIN.
- Cancel your card immediately if your card is swallowed, or if you think you have been a victim of fraud.
- Don't try to draw money at ATMs with blank screens and never force your card into an ATM slot.
