What you need to know
Be alert
Fraudsters are notorious for sending emails, often with links or attachments purporting to be a payment notification or bank statement.

When you select the link in the email, you will be redirected to a fake website that mimics fnb.co.za.

In an attempt to steal your banking details you will be requested to login/provide personal information/enter your card number/ATM pin.
Watch out for fake websites
When you enter your details on these screens, the fraudsters will be in a position to access your banking profile.
Report suspected fraud
Remember, FNB will NEVER ask for your username, password or PIN in an email, SMS or phone call. Never select a link to our website that was sent via email. Always type in FNB's web address. Report fraud on 087 575 9444.
Protect yourself
Stay ahead of those who are trying to scam you
FNB, and our representative RB Jacobs, will only ever request the following information while assisting customers on social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter
- Your name
- Your ID number
- Your contact number
We will also ask for this info to be sent to an FNB address (i.e. "rbjacobs@fnb.co.za") and we will not ask anyone to share personal info directly on a social media site, not even via a private message.
Note that FNB and RB Jacobs will NEVER ask you for:
- Your credit or cheque card details
- Your account number or details
- Your online banking login details
- Your password or One Time PIN (OTP)
